My first SLR was an Olympus OM1 it was totally manual. This forced me to learn how a photo is taken technicaly and inturn helped me to understand how to improve them. Brighton Pier I owned this camera for over twenty years and when I decide to go digital it was a very hard decision to make. The decision was in large part due to the amount of undeveloped film languishing in a draw and partly because of my interest in digital technology having bought my first PC.

Olympus c700 ultra zoom was the camera I decided to buy to replace the OM1, after many hours of research on the internet and in magazines. At the time it had won many awards for its outstanding image quality and amazing 10x optical zoom, but it was only a 2.1 megapixel camera (This was considered when the camera was first launched to be a middle to high end mega pixel camera) and produced very good quality images. Cost was £550 pounds - quite a lot of money at the time.

My current camera is a Nikon D70s with 18-70mm and 70-300mm lenses. I have wanted one every since they first announced it was first digital SLR camera under £1000 pounds. So far I have not been disappointed, it's just like having my OM1 back again but without the added costs of films and processing.
